bbboing – obfuscate text but leave it readable

bbboing is an anagram of bobbing, which is part of my company name ( Bobbing Wide – hence my WordPress username ). Furthermore it’s an anagram where the first and last letters of the word are not changed. Given some text such as “code is poetry” the [bbboing] shortcode produces an obfuscated version of the text following the “rules” defined in http://www.mrc-cbu.cam.ac.uk/people/matt.davis/Cmabrigde/

The purpose of this plugin is both educational, experimental and entertaining.

Educational

It shows an example of a plugin developed using the application programming interface in my oik plugin, where I have been developing the idea of lazy smart shortcodes.

• lazy – the code to evaluate the shortcode is loaded on demand, when the shortcode is used.
• smart – the shortcodes understand the content in which they’re invoked

Experimental

… since I am trying to find a good approach for dealing with plugin dependency. This plugin doesn’t crash and burn when the oik plugin is not activated, it just waits for the message to say that oik has been loaded.

According to a researcher at Cambridge University, it doesn’t matter in which order the letters in a word are, the only important thing is that the first and last letter be at the right place. The rest can be a total mess and you can still read it without problem. This is because the human mind does not read every letter by itself but the word as a whole.
