A. Ad hoc tracing enables you to trace selected WordPress action hooks and filters. You decide which hooks to trace

Ad hoc tracing lets you see what’s happening without having to change any code.

Process

• Select the Count action hooks and filters checkbox
• Run the transaction you want to trace
• From the output determine which hooks you’re interested in tracing
• Type the hook names into the Ad hoc tracing text area fields
• Re-run the transaction
• Analyze the output

You can decide the priority at which you want the trace hooks to be added. This can come in handy if you’re tracing filters for which multiple filter functions are attached. Ad hoc tracing was introduced in oik-bwtrace v2.0.6.
