The 16th edition of the Oikko-Channel i Music Awards ceremony took place at an auditorium in Amazura, Jamaica, New York on November 14, 2021. Like the previous years, this year oikko.com.bd which is the largest wing of Oikko Foundation, has been the title sponsor of the program.
Since 2004, Oikko-Channel i Music Awards, as one of the most prestigious music awards in Bangladesh, has been felicitating the best of the music industry. This year, to celebrate the 50 years of Bangladesh’s independence, with the slogan of ‘Swadhinotar Ponchash Bochhore Bangladesh-er Gaan’ (Songs of Bangladesh in 50 years of Independence), the award has honored 50 prominent singers, lyricists, and composers for their contributions to the music industry in all these years of independence.
Besides, one artist was honored with the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award. All these awardees were announced virtually from Dhaka by Shykh Seraj, Director and Head of Communications, Channel i.
The evening was hosted by the renowned actor Afzal Hossain, along with Tony Dias, Nawsheen Nahreen Mou, Adnan Faruque Hillol, Bonna Mirza, Shahriar Nazim Joy, and Priya Dias, in different fragments.
Many noted celebrities of the music industry like Sabina Yasmin, Rezwana Choudhury Bannya, Samina Chowdhury, Kumar Biswajit, S I Tutul, Badshah Bulbul and among the young music stars like Elita Karim and Konal enthralled the audience.
Several Dhallywood A-listers were also present including Shakib Khan, Moushumi, and Rozina, who mesmerized the audience with their performance and brought up the glamour quotient of the night.
The presence of the director of Impress Telefilm and Channel i and the project head of the 16th Oikko-Channel i Award, Jahiruddin Mahmud, along with Nazrul Sangeet singer Ferdaus Ara, noted singer Rathindranath Ray and the president of Oikko foundation Shahin Akter Rainy (virtually) brought extra gravity to the program.
Many awardees couldn’t attend the ceremony in New York and receive their awards. Thus, the organizers have planned to arrange another event for delivering the awards to the respective awardees in Dhaka.
Oikko.com.bd is the associate of the program, while Deshi Music Entertainment was in charge of the arrangements for the 16th Channel i Music Awards in New York.
The award show was aired on Channel I on 31st December 2021.
